1-on-1 Management

If you are like the “average” manager, the accomplishments that earned you promotion into management—technical expertise, superior performance or achievement, or advanced knowledge—have not adequately prepared you to manage other people effectively.  You need to develop critical managerial and leadership skills.

You aren’t looking for theories or complicated management models. Instead, what you desperately need is a step-by-step approach to effective management that creates results: a set of proven management principles that can be used immediately to build trust, improve communication, and create a positive work environment.

1-on-1 Management™, based on the book by the same name, gives you the necessary managerial tools. Once you learn how to engage employees one-on-one, and discover the principles of developing positive, working relationships with your employees, you will have learned what every great manager knows.

  Participants will learn how to:

  • Develop the vital people skills that characterize effective leaders

  • Create an engaging workplace environment of commitment and accountability

  • Unlock the hidden potential of talented employees

  • Lead employees - not drive them - and create a high-performance workplace

  • Eliminate the stress associated with managing people

Topics Include:

  • Why Being a Manager Is So Difficult?

  • Dealing With Those Pesky Employees!

  • Purpose and Principles of 1-On-1 Management™

  • Four Questions Every Manager Must Clearly Answer

  • Effective Communication – The Cornerstone Of Great Management

  • Creating An Engaging Environment

  • The High Cost Of Employee Turnover

  • Recognition And Encouragement

  • The Power Of Expectations

  • The 1-On-1 Meeting™: Purpose And Structure

Participants receive the book, 1-on-1 Management™: What Every Great Manager Knows That You Don't, written by workshop leader Kelly Riggs

Instructor:
Kelly Riggs is the founder and president of Vmax Performance Group and the author of 1-on-1 Management™: What Every Great Manager Knows That You Don't, published in January 2008.  A successful entrepreneur and business owner, Kelly is widely recognized as a powerful speaker and dynamic trainer, and currently serves as the trainer for the JCPenney Leadership Center at the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business.  Kelly is a Registered Corporate Coach (RCC) and has spent the last twelve years teaching and training organizational leaders in sales and executive management.
