In 1938, Genave King Rogers became the first woman to graduate from the University of Tulsa's College of Business Administration. With her B.S.B.A. in hand, she began a life of service and generosity to her alma mater and to the Tulsa community. Genave, a Phi Mu herself, has provided the Leslie Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund. She initiated the Rogers Rookie Challenge, a matching grant fund. She donated the Bonfire Pit for the "U", site of the traditional homecoming kick-off. One of her more recent gifts is the endowment of the College of Business Administration's Business Law program; the Business Law Center has been named in her honor. She has provided funding for administrative support for the Center which has as its focus the improved participation of high schools in Eastern Oklahoma in the annual Oklahoma Mock Trial Competition. The Business Law Center will also assist the Oklahoma Bar Association in its sponsorship of the National High School Mock Trial Competition when it comes to the State of Oklahoma in 2006. Genave was the first recipient of the J. Paschal Twyman Distinguished Service Award, in 1992. Genave was recently an inaugural inductee into the Circle Society. Members of this group represent the pinnacle of private support, having demonstrated unsurpassed commitment to the advancement of the University. She was named College of Business Administration Distinguished Alumna in 1999, and was named University of Tulsa Distinguished Alumna for 2000. |
